Goxhill Methodist Chapel

Goxhill Methodist Chapel is part of the Barton and Brigg Methodist Circuit (17/11) of the Lincoln and Grimsby District and you would be most welcome to join us any Sunday (10.30am) – we have a variety of services, including traditional, family and ecumenical, working closely with the Anglican church, All Saints.

We affirm the Barton and Brigg Mission Statement and prayer of which we seek to be an active part: ‘Our resource is the Gospel and our aim is simple; to secure a caring, proclaiming, celebrating
worshipping and growing Christian presence in each community’.

Father, we seek the guidance of Your Holy Spirit in all the business before us. In planning for the future, give us Your vision. In matters of finance, give us responsibility. In dealing with people, give us love. Help us in all things to honour Your name, to advance
Your kingdom, and to carry out Your will. Through Jesus Christ
our Lord, Amen.

In addition ‘as the people of Goxhill Methodist Church, we are concerned with the wholeness of each individual within God’s purpose for everyone. We seek to safeguard all members of the church community of all ages. It is the responsibility of each one of us to prevent physical, sexual or emotional abuse of children and the vulnerable.’ Young people of junior and senior school ages are involved in J Team and Dynamos after school clubs.

The chapel premises provide an open door for village people of all ages in a variety of church based and other social activities and gatherings. Among the regular events organised by members - Chums of the Chapel - are Whist Drives on the first and third Saturday of every month, and the annual Open Gardens and flower festival on the third Sunday every June, which is always a very popular occasion.

MAG – Methodists and Anglicans in Goxhill involves a group of people committed to monthly prayer meetings, organising worshipping and socialising together on a regular basis, caring for the community through making contact with those living in residential homes, home bereavement visits and children’s groups.

As Churches Together they also arrange regular quizzes in the Chapel School room. In the New Testament of the Holy Bible - John Chapter 14 verse 6 ‘Jesus answered (the disciple Thomas’ question about the way to heaven), ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’.
