A decision will be made at 10.30am each day.

The school photographer will be in school on Thursday 9th October. Please complete and return the booking form distributed last week ASAP. There is no obligation to buy.

School Dress- a reminder of our policy
It is our school policy for all children to wear school uniform when attending school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours.

The school’s uniform is as follows:

·  White or grey polo shirt
·  Maroon sweatshirt or cardigan.
·  Grey or black trousers, shorts, skirts or pinafores.
·  Red/pink/ maroon summer gingham dresses
·  Dark shoes or black trainers

For PE lessons pupils require a white t-shirt (not polo shirt) and black shorts.

Uniform items with a ‘Goxhill Primary’ motif are available from the school office.
Fashion jewellery other than plain studs is not permitted.

Pupil absence procedures- a reminder of our policy
At Goxhill Primary we are constantly aware of child safety issues.
One problem for us is knowing whether all pupils who set off for school have actually arrived with us. To address this issue we ask all parents to help us by following our well-established system:

· On the first day of a child’s absence parents should telephone the school office at anytime overnight or before 8.20am and leave a short message on the 24 hour answering machine informing us of the absence and reason for it. This serves to provide us with a log of absent pupils.

· On the day a child is due to return to school after a period of absence, parents should again leave a message. This provides us with a log of pupils expected back at school.

In order to reassure parents, any child who is unexpectedly absent will be assumed to have not reached school and their absence will be followed up. In extreme cases this may involve contacting the local police.

Newsletters
To reduce loses we aim to send out newsletters on a designated day. Parents should expect letters on MONDAYS. Only in exceptional circumstances (e.g. the cancellation of an event) will letters be sent out on other days. An e-mail copy of the newsletter will be sent out each week.

Fund Raising- a reminder of our policy
¨      Fund raising activities aim to supplement our budget by providing extra monies to enhance the school building or our teaching resources.
¨      Last year the funds raised were used to support on going refurbishment work.
¨      We are aware that at some schools, fund raising results in constant requests for donations etc. To prevent this happening we try to spread events over the course of the year:

Main  Fund Raising

Supplementary Fund Raising

Autumn Term

Christmas Fayre,

Disco, Concert DVD

Spring Term

Easter Draw

Disco, Easter Egg Bingo

Summer Term

Summer Fayre

Pupil sponsored event

We would like to thank parents, relatives and friends for their on-going support of our fund raising system.

Volunteering to help at Fund Raising Events
We hold a list of parents who are prepared to help out at school and / or fund raising events. (e.g. running a stall at a Fayre or serving drinks at a school disco). We contact parents on the list in rotation to see if they are willing to help out at a given event. By doing this we involve as many parents as possible in such activities whilst spreading the workload across a number of different people.  If you are interested in being included on the list, please contact Mrs Coulam via the School Office.

School Meals
Parents are reminded that meals now cost £1.80. Old style lunch tickets (plus 10p supplement) are valid until 23rd October 2008.   A copy of the Autumn Term menu was distributed in July. If you would like another copy please contact the School Office.

A reminder about our policy on Charging and Remissions for school visits / additional activities
In order to enrich and enliven the curriculum, each class makes at least one external visit each term. The Governing Body's policy in respect of this is that:
"The school will ask parents to make equal voluntary contributions towards the total cost of a visit, an outing or an activity.  If enough contributions are not forthcoming, it is very probable that the visit will not take place.  However, no child will be excluded from a visit on the grounds of inability to pay.  Where appropriate the school may charge for optional extra activities.”

We thank parents for their on going support of our numerous but educational valuable visits.

Autumn Term Events
A full list of events for the Autumn term will be distributed over the next couple of weeks.

Term Dates
A list of school term dates was distributed last week. If you did not receive a copy please contact the School Office. We would like to remind parents that the school will be closed for staff training on FRIDAY 3rd OCTOBER and FRIDAY 24th OCTOBER.

Childcare Provision
Parents are reminded that our Breakfast and After School Clubs provide childcare from 8am to 6pm. The Holiday club is also available over Half term and on the two training days detailed above.

Live Professional Theatre Evening- 9th October 7pm
A flyer relating to our forthcoming theatre evening will be distributed soon- tickets available soon.

School Headteacher Vacancy
We would like to clarify that Mr Jackson will be moving schools at Christmas (some parents thought that he was leaving in July). It was necessary to inform parents in July as the job was advertised at the end of the summer holidays and he wanted parents to know before the advert appeared in the Press.
