The New Gander Team
The Gander Team is still based on stalwarts Mike Gathercole, Coordinator, and John Noton, Treasurer. The new members of the team are Jeff Teasdale, who is taking over as Editor, with Mark Russell and Nicola Jones who are jointly responsible on the Advertising side. They are supported by a loyal group of people who play a vital part in delivering the Gander to every household in the village. As an introduction to the new and old members of the team, we have each done a brief Pen Portrait.
Nicola Jones, I am a thirty something year old housewife who was born and raised in Scunthorpe, I have lived in Goxhill for 10 years, have 3 children who all go to Goxhill Primary, and a husband (who no-one can find!), 2 dogs, and 2 step sons who are now away at University. We all love the village and the people (so do the outlaws because they all followed us here from down South), and that is why I wanted to help out with the Gander.
Mark Russell, I have lived in Goxhill for eight years. I am married to Paula, who is a leader for Goxhill Rainbows. I have two daughters, Megan and Hannah, who attend Goxhill School where I am also a school governor. I work at Lindsey Oil Refinery in Killingholme as a shift process operator. I am a keen musician and have played in a number of bands in the area over the last twenty odd years, although these days I don't play in a band, but I have a studio at home. I am also a keen fruit and veg grower, my family have an allotment in the village. I love living in Goxhill and being involved in community life, which is why I volunteered to help with the Gander.
Jeff Teasdale, also born and brought up in Scunthorpe, but worked in London for 15 years before moving back to this area to set up a design and advertising business with my brother. My wife Pip and I have 2 grown up children, both born and brought up in Goxhill and we have been involved in most village institutions and groups at some stage over the years. I have been a Governor at Goxhill School for almost as long as we have lived here. I am semi retired but seem to replace paid work with unpaid work these days. I recently finished as a Governor at Baysgarth after many years so I thought I would fill my time with a new challenge.
Mike Gathercole, married with two grown up children, I am now retired from full time employment although I do have several part time jobs, I have lived in Goxhill for over 20 years and am heavily involved in the community. The Gander being one of these for which I have assisted in its production for about 15 years. I am a member of the Parish Council as well as the Local School Governing Body.
John Noton, I work within an NHS Primary care setting in a managerial role in Grimsby, and I am married to Rebecca with two children. Hobbies include entertaining my children, watching most sports, listening to music and DIY. I also act as a LIVES volunteer first responder.
