Even the smallest role is a huge help!

This voulunteering lark for the Gander can't be bad, as some of the team has been here for decades!, become an active, valued member of our village community.

Volounteer!

Join the Flock at The Gander!

With our former Editor-n-Chief moving into a Trustee and committee chair role and me taking over the red pen, we’re looking to fill a few key spots in our "nest." We’ve gone high-tech lately, and we need some fresh wings to help us keep Goxhill’s stories moving.

Most of us have busy lives - families, work, and endless to - do lists, but we always make time to get the quarterly issue produced. There are three months between issues, so once that deadline pressure lifts, there’s a real sense of shared achievement when the final copy lands on Goxhill doorsteps.

The Nest Organiser

Content Coordinator

Previously held by Ferne Carmichael. You are the glue that holds us together! You’ll stay in touch with our advertisers and contributors, sending out friendly deadline reminders and gathering content.

The Digital Honker

Social Media Lead

If you’ve noticed our Facebook feed is a bit quiet, we need you! Help us keep the village updated online and maybe even help us expand to new social platforms.

Village Correspondents

Roving Reporters

Since we don’t have a central pub or post office to hang out at, we rely on people who are active in the local social circles. If you’re "in the know" about what’s happening around the village, we want your updates!

Gander Goose Team

Feather Polishers

Assistant Editors & Artworkers

Help us make the magazine look sleek. You’ll take part in general type-setting and creating event posters. No experience needed - we'll show you the ropes in Affinity by Canva.

The Perks of the Nest

The "Inside Scoop"
You’ll find out what’s going on in the village before anyone else (just keep it under your wing until we publish!).

Tech-Forward
We’ve taken huge leaps with collaborative document sharing and a very active, friendly team chat group.

Low Pressure
We only have quarterly editorial and trustee meetings, some of which we are now hosting online.

Work Your Way:
We all work from home on our own equipment.

Bite sized Projects

You don't have to become a "permanent" member of the team to get involved. Our website serves as a complimentary village resource, while the magazine holds the deep dives. We have several "bite-sized" projects for those who want to contribute:

  • Landmarks & House Names
Pick up a map and help us complete the village layout. [Village Maps]
  • Village History
Research Short Award winners, or Best Kept Village entires or help build a timeline of Goxhill's growth (like WW1/II history) to improve our Goxhill History section.
  • Goxhill Nature & Wildlife
Are you into horticulture? We are looking for someone to produce a quarterly article on local nature for the printed magazine.
  • The Archives
Write synopses for old issues to help us build a searchable database.
  • Advertising
Your help securing advertisers covers our print costs, and any surplus goes right back into community project grants.
  • New or Special Features
Have an idea for a one-off featured article? We especially want to hear from you! [Submit an article]

Choose to do as much or as little as you want. We've listed some roles, but you could even make up your own! Submit a contact form or give Rose Williams - Overall Editor a call on 07498 719056. You can also contact any of the team listed on page 3 of the magazine.
